Senior Mechanical Engineer - Data Centres

PRG have exclusively been appointed by a top five building services consultancy assisting in the strategic search of an experienced Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer with Data Centre or Critical Facilities experience based from their offices in Belfast.

The consultancy delivers the world’s most efficient data centres, committed working toward sustainability guidelines supporting their clients in becoming climate neutral.

The consultancy is looking for talented engineers to join their multi-disciplinary data centre project delivery team delivering services to their international data centre clients.

Acting as a lead engineer, you will manage Mechanical design teams to deliver mechanical design for data centre projects of varying scales, including HV distribution systems and infrastructure. You will plan and manage the delivery of specific work packages including drawings, preparation and coordination of mechanical reports and specifications.

Your role will include: -

• Supervising and coordinating the work of others and coordinating work with engineers of other disciplines
• Managing a team of MEP Engineers to ensure production of deliverables to established timelines within budget.

Requirements

You will be degree qualified and chartered, knowledgeable in the field of mechanical design and delivery of mechanical engineering solutions on data centre projects.

• Experience in directing mechanical teams on multi-disciplinary projects
• Able to demonstrate strong commercial acumen
• Familiar with design guides published by ASHRAE, Uptime Institute and TIA942 related to data centre design
• Experience in sustainable building design and up to date knowledge in the mechanical discipline and data centre design including
  • Large Power (11kV) Distribution Systems
  • Building load assessments
  • Standby generation and UPS
  • Lighting design
  • Combined Heat and Power Plant

Ideally you will have datacentre expertise. Candidates with experience in large-scale complex MEP system design will also be considered.
